Skate ‘N’ Place, a Bloomington, Illinois, skating rink has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The skating emporium, which has been in business for almost 50 years, is owned by Georgianna and Gene L. Cunningham, a wife and her husband.
According to an article by Edith Brady-Lunny for
www.pantagraph.com, the company had initially filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case in March. That case has recently been converted to that of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
Bankruptcy records list $1.2 million in debt, with $600,000 in secure claims, which normally have priority for any funds collected during the legal process. The largest claims have been filed by
First Federal Bank, Busey Bank and
First Farmers Bank.
