Former Teen Pop Star Files Bankruptcy but Is Moving On
Written by CFB Blogger. Posted in Blog
Aaron Carter, erstwhile teen-aged pop star, who now asserts his maturity, recently filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The bankruptcy has expunged the singer’s more than $3 million of debt, incurred from unpaid taxes, which were ostensibly caused by his team of overseers; remember, he was a very young teen a dozen years ago.
Ten years ago, Carter’s final teen-aged album
“Another Earthquake”, was released. Since then, he has had roles in a few films, performed in an off-Broadway production of
“The Fantasticks” and placed fifth on season nine of
“Dancing with the Stars”.
He avers that he has been working assiduously to avoid the all-too-common occurrence wherein child stars fall into the ignominy of substance abuse and petty crime. Aside from a 2008 arrest for possession of marijuana, Carter states, “’I’m a good person’”.
MacKenzie Reagan, reporting for
Move Magazine, writes that the young man seems to be on the show business come-back trail. “He’s older and wiser and ready for a comeback. This 12-year hiatus has allowed Carter time to mature and evolve, both as an artist and as a person”.
Carter maintains that he has assembled a team of “the best of the best” to produce his new music, including his newest single
“Ooh Wee”, a hip-hop-tinged pop track produced by the Grammy-winning Aaron Pearce. “’I’m very proud of all my work.‘”
