Company That Makes Camera That “Sees Through Walls” Files Bankruptcy
Written by CFB Blogger. Posted in Blog
Walleye Technologies Inc., the Lincoln, Massachusetts-based maker of a handheld camera technology that could allegedly “see through walls,” has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. In its bankruptcy filing, the business lists approximately $2.5 million in liabilities and only $23,100 in assets.
From an article in the
Boston Business Journal by Sara Castellanos, back in November 2009, Walleye Technologies executives averred that the camera, which “generated high-quality digital images”, would make a “big impact in a variety of markets including home repair and construction.” The camera, which used “invisible wavelengths called millimeter waves to see into and through objects”, was featured as one of
TIME Magazine’s “50 Best Inventions of 2009”. According to the magazine, the device weighed less than 3 pounds and would cost less than $500.
The company’s CEO is Siisi Adu-Gyamfi, formerly vice president of marketing for
Eaton Corp.
Happily,
TSA is NOT using this device for screening at airport checkpoints.
