Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, Texas-Style

Biscayne Group Inc., an Austin, Texas-based construction and design company specializing in aquatic and wildlife exhibits, has filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the
Western District of Texas Austin Division U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Bankruptcy documents show that Biscayne Group has assets of $509,055.61 and staggering debt of $6,486,983.
The company’s largest creditors are
PlainsCapital Bank and
Guarantee Company of North America. Only the PlainsCapital debt is secured, according to bankruptcy documents. Biscayne Group Vice President, Brett Cavaliero, signed the bankruptcy documents on behalf of the corporation.
According to an article in the
Austin Business Journal by Jan Buchholz, co-debtors on some of the larger claims include Cavaliero’s wife, Kristie Reeves-Cavaliero, and James Post, Biscayne’s President. Post’s wife, Robyn Post, is also listed on some claims as a co-debtor, along with CPM Holdings LLC. Cavaliero and Post are also shown to be owed personal loans to the corporation; Cavaliero owed $364,663 and Post owed $298,413.
Other unsecured creditors include
American Express; Chase Bank; HD Supply Industrial PVF; James Jones Jr.;
Rain by Design Irrigation & Plumbing; Ryan Herco and
Thompson Concrete Construction.
Biscayne Group has built aquatic displays for such clients as
Cabela’s; Smithsonian Institution; Marriott hotels;
Golden Nugget casino; the
Los Angeles Zoo; Houston Zoo; San Antonio Zoo; Audubon Zoo; California Science Center; Carnival Cruise Lines; SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida;
Texas A&M University and
Old Dominion University.
