Director of the movies,
Hunt for Red October, Predator and
Die Hard, John McTiernan, and his wife have declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy to avoid foreclosure on their 3,254-acre ranch. The bank has counter-filed, seeking to convert the McTiernan’s bankruptcy to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
During the recent hearing, reports Katie Rife for
www.avclub.com, McTiernan’s show business comeback was raised as a source of potential income wherein he would be able to repay his debts, including alimony to an ex-wife, monies owed to a former agent and damages to individuals who sued McTiernan for his complicity in an earlier auto accident.
McTiernan testified that he has written three scripts, one of which,
Warbirds, reportedly has a buyer,
Hannibal Pictures. John Travolta, Queen Latifah and Johnny Knoxville are said to be in talks for roles in the film. McTiernan also claims that he may have the opportunity to re-write an already completed script as well as to direct a movie that is set to begin filming in January. This is in addition to the previously announced filming of
Red Squad, with which Nicolas Cage’s name has been linked.
Mr. McTiernan spent 10 months in prison in 2010 for lying to federal agents who were investigating the wiretapping of a number of Hollywood personae.
