Arby’s restaurants have recently closed in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania, leaving dozens of employees looking for new jobs and/or filing for unemployment compensation. On that same sad day, Roy McDonald, president of Clarks Summit-based
Dijan, Inc., saw his Chapter 7 bankruptcy approved in federal court.
According to a news article by Joe Sylvester for
www.timesleader.com, Dijan had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in
U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in August 2010. That bankruptcy was converted to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, allowing for liquidation of the company’s assets.
Mr. McDonald’s Arby’s restaurants that closed were in Kingston, Scranton, Pine Grove in Schuylkill County and in the Wyoming Valley, Lycoming and Schuylkill malls.
The news story reports that a spokeswoman for the Atlanta-based Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc. issued a statement saying that the company was evaluating the situation to determine if the restaurants could be reopened under new ownership.
