Ann Arbor Naked Furniture Files Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
Written by CFB Blogger. Posted in Blog
The
Naked Furniture store in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has closed after being in business for nearly 15 years in the city that is home to the
University of Michigan. Ronald Lafluer, owner of the furniture store, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, listing debt at between $500,000 – $1 million and assets totaling $100,000-$500,000.
The bankruptcy lists 73 creditors including the
IRS, the
Michigan Department of Treasury and the city of
Ann Arbor.
According to a news story on
www.mlive.com by Jeremy Allen, the store sold such items as desks, dressers, dining tables, bookcases, beds and mattresses, all necessities in a college town.
One customer of the store had picked out bunk beds for their five children, paying almost $2,800. However, instead of blissfully slumbering in their new beds, the children are reportedly sleeping on mattresses on the floor. Their parents are concerned that they will not receive either the beds or a refund of their money.
During a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, a court-appointed trustee collects all assets and sells everything that the court has deemed non-exempt, including any applicable personal and business assets.
