Washington, D.C., Electrical Contractor Declares Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

Reston-based electrical contractor,
Truland Group, has recently filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the
U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Eastern District of Virginia. Affiliated companies,
Truland Service Corp. and
Truland Systems, also filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Other Truland-affiliated companies, including
Truland Walker Seal Transportation, reportedly have bankruptcy cases pending.
According to an article in
The Washington Post by Sarah Halzack, a former manager with Truland stated that he and other employees have been laid off.
Clark Construction, which subcontracts with Truland, said Truland workers have not recently come to work on various job sites, the article reports.
Truland Group has been headquartered in the Washington, D.C.-area for over one hundred years. They worked on such huge projects as the M
usic Center at Strathmore, the
Walter E. Washington Convention Center and a number of federal government sites.
Halzack writes that in its 2014
“Book of Lists”, the
Washington Business Journal reported that Truland generated revenues of $486 million in 2012, employing 1,100 people locally and 1,400 across the country.
