Indiana Homebuilder Forced into Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

A group of seven contractors in the South Bend, Indiana-area have filed petitions in
U.S. Bankruptcy Court in South Bend to force
Weiss Homes and 10 of its affiliates into an involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
According to a news report in the
South Bend Tribune, Dave Weiss, owner of Weiss Homes, is not contesting those petitions. Reportedly, Weiss Homes, as well as 10 of its affiliates have not repaid approximately $560,000 worth of labor and materials.
Mr. Weiss has also filed individually for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. According to the Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition recently filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Weiss lists assets of approximately $1 million and liabilities of over $8.8 million.
